The work presented here, part of my ongoing series, The Thread of our Common Humanity, is shaped by my response to our increasingly divided world. Using materially driven abstraction, I assert that, as human beings, we share more than we differ; a common thread runs through us all.
Thread functions as both a literal and symbolic element throughout the work. Each piece incorporates thread, physically binding disparate materials together with hand and machine stitching. The act of sewing becomes an embodied gesture of togetherness.
Though non-representational, the work inevitably reflects my deeply held values. Central among them is the conviction that we are more alike than we are different, and that our collective strength lies in connection rather than conflict.
